General Motors now flexing its muscles with the Chevrolet brand. It has lined up a five-door hatch back variant of the so successful Cruze to be showcased at the Paris Auto Show that happens soon. A few official pictures of the Chevrolet Cruze hatch have been released and from the first look the hatch version surely does look nice. The large proportions add to the glitz while the front gets a all new LED fog lamps that remind you of the Audi instantly. While the rear being a hatch gets an all new treatment. New round tail lamps and a very different looking tail is eye catchy.

GM says this isn’t and is just the prototype but remember guys, GM has a habit of getting their concept cars into production without any major change and the biggest example being the Beat. So don’t be surprised if the Chevrolet Cruze Hatch that you see in the pictures makes it to the production lines.

Chevrolet says it will begin selling the Cruze hatchback across Europe in mid-2011 and pricing will be announced closer to the model’s on-sale date. We would not be very surprised if GM gets this Hot Hatch here on Indian roads, remember the SRV ?

Having a hobby doesn’t just keep you busy; it acts as avoidance to boredom and actually stimulates your mind, resulting in a healthier and happier life. Your day to day activities and musings can start to get you stuck in a rut of routine, making your life bogged down with occasional or frequent boredom. Hobbies give you something to take your mind off of your daily routines and help to challenge your mind to think in ways it is not normally used to There are lots of hobbies to choose from, but a popular one is auto work.

You don’t have to be a genius automotive engineer to get into car work either—anyone with a vehicle can do it. Think of your vehicle as the base for your hobby; you have something that can be changed, upgraded, and detailed in a huge number of ways. Everything from washing your car to installing a new hood, from polishing hubcaps to doing electrical work, it can all be done with your vehicle.

You may be thwarted off from starting because it seems like an overwhelming task to even begin, but it’s not. Just like any other hobby, or simple task that you do for the first time, for that matter, things will seem harder than they actually are before you even try them. The point is, you need to try new things to keep your mind fresh and to challenge yourself, building a new knowledge base and relieving everyday stresses in the process.

Auto work ranges between washing and waxing your car to replacing delicate parts. It is completely up to your comfort level here, do what you think you can handle to start out, and move forward from there. With any hobby, you want to start off with something you are comfortable with so you can get a handle of it. After that, challenge yourself to do something a little more complicated. Keeping your brain active and out of the repetition of daily activities will help to keep you away from boredom and stimulate further interest.

Use books, video tutorials, and internet articles to find simple projects to complete with your vehicle. Also, use the internet to your disposal with all your vehicle hobby needs. There are lots of different online retailers that carry top quality products for discounted prices, like onlineautopartsstore.com. Online retailers are great because you can search for exactly what you need online without being annoyed by service representatives or overwhelmed by a store full of parts that you don’t need, but can get caught up looking through. This hobby is about relieving stress, not creating it!

Whether you choose to work on your vehicle with a friend, a group of people, or on your own, the process of thinking about what you want to do, planning how to do it, and going through the steps required to get it done will keep your brain stimulated. Remember, the most important thing here is to keep your brain active and engaged in new, challenging things.

If you ask a person how does the car move forward you can expect the answer to be that the power from the engine drives the wheels and the car moves forward. If you pursue asking questions and follow up with, how does the engine generate power you can expect to get the answer that it gets the power by a controlled burning of the fuel. And if you will ask further questions about the parts involved you will find that a reasonable number of persons are familiar with terms such as a piston, cylinder, fuel injection and so on. That is to say even a lay person has some idea about how a car starts and gains speed.

Now if you ask the same person how the car comes to a stop then you can expect to get the answer with the help of the brakes. And if you pursue further and ask how do the brakes stop the car you will not get too many persons who can answer that in any detail. Which if you come to think of it is a little odd. After all if the engine does not start then you suffer just a delayed start. But if the brakes fail to perform to the expected level then the consequences can be much more serious.

So how do the brakes work then? Well the brakes generate the retarding force by pressing the brake pads on to the brake rotors. The brake rotor as the name suggests is a component that is a part of the wheel and when the rotation of the rotor is retarded the rotation of the wheel gets retarded as well. Now brake pads are a consumable just like the car tires are and eventually need to be replaced. But you can go one step further and go in for the latest brake rotors as well. For example if you are into high performance driving then slotted brake rotors may be better suited since they generate more friction than drilled brake rotors which are the normally fitted on a car. You can see the latest brake rotors at www.ilovebodykits.com.
